Sialendoscopy was pioneered in the early 90’s and initially introduced to the medical field in Geneva, 1995. Since then sialendoscopy has been continuously developed and improved by research and is now accepted as a routine procedure when investigating patients who appear to have symptoms of salivary gland diseases and disorders. Sialendoscopy, contrary to previous procedures uses minimal invasive surgery which allows for optical exploration of the salivary ductal system and extraction of the stones by a basket under endoscopic view. A powerful and collaborative network of international sialendoscopy experts from 34 countries has been developed. The First International Sialendoscopy Conference will provide a unique platform for these experts to come together to share knowledge, network, exchange ideas, debate and discuss the very latest clinical data and developments. The two day conference will be a melting pot of the latest discoveries innovations and trends and for those interested in this field, a milestone not to be missed. Professor Eugene Myers, from Pittsburgh is the honorary President and will be the godfather of this event. The conference has tremendous support from key organisations including: The International and European Salivary Gland Societies, The European Federation of ORL Societies, The European Academy of ORL Head and Neck Surgery. For those who decide to attend CME credits will be granted. This unique event will include keynote lectures, round table discussions and abstract sessions. The best papers will be selected by a committee of international experts and will be published in an international peer reviewed Otolaryngology journal. The overall best abstract will receive special recognition and the author a prestigious award. F.Marchal, MD, FACS Octobre 5, 2011 |
